CLINTON HILL

Clinton Hill is a residential neighborhood between Fort Greene and Bedford-Stuyvesant. Once it was a very wealthy neighborhood, by the 1880s and 1890s, Clinton Avenue was lined with mansions of millionaires, many of which have survived to the present day. One of the leading art schools in the United States, the Pratt Institute, is located in Clinton Hill. Today, the neighborhood is more middle-class, and some areas further east and west are yet to be gentrified. The population is a mix of students from nearby Pratt Institute, African American professionals, Caribbean immigrants and middle-class families of different backgrounds.
