GREENPOINT

Greenpoint is the northernmost neighborhood of Brooklyn. It's sometimes referred to as Little Poland, due to its large population of Polish immigrants. After a long history as a working-class and immigrant neighborhood, Greenpoint began to experience gentrification since the 1980s. Many young people, who appreciated the neighborhood’s proximity to the hip Williamsburg area, have moved to the neighborhood in recent years, making rent prices go up steadily. But the Polish character remains: You'll find lots of Polish shops and restaurants there, Polish food and newspapers in Polish language.
