Central Park is a huge park in the middle of Manhattan. It has become the most famous park in the world because of many appereances in movies and television shows. The park is located north of Midtown and south of Harlem, between the Upper East Side and the Upper West Side.

It is the green oasis within the city, a place for everyone to go. Lots of sports can be done there: jogging, cycling, fishing, rowing, skating, basketball and ice-skating in winter. People love the park, there are concerts and openairs, people are speed-dating or having picknicks, squirrels are hopping around, it's just nice to go for a stroll there.

The park was built in 1853 because the New Yorkers needed a green place where they could escape from the noise and chaotic life in the city. In the 1960s and 1970s the park began to deteriorate: Littering, Vandalism, Graffities. The park became very dangerous at night and it looked like it was out of control, until 1980 when they founded the Central Park Conservancy, a private non-profit organization, which still runs the park. Today the park is very clean and safe, even when it's dark.
