EAST HARLEM

Also known as Spanish Harlem or El Barrio, East Harlem is one of the biggest Latino communities in New York City. The streets of East Harlem offer a feeling of Latin America: shops playing salsa music, Puerto Rican flags flying from cars, men playing dominoes and people hanging out on stoops, shouting to their neighbor in Spanglish. Spanish Harlem stretches from East 96th Street to East 125th Street.
